Back in Alaska

Back up in Alaska, It is a lot colder than it has been in the past. There is still plenty of snow up in the hills surrounding the lake and water is crazy cold. This season is off to a slow start. Since the 12 days i have been up here we have only counted 9 Sockeye into the lake. These are very low. Everyone at the Dept. hopes it has something to do with how cold it is. I don't think anyone is catching much out in Saltwater either. I guess the fish will come when they are ready.
My plan this year was to take a picture of every fish i catch. I've already caught two, but the photos did not load properly on my computer so i have no proof. One was a small rock fish and the other a yellow eye (like a red snapper) I breaded and friend up the fillets and used the carcasses for crab bait. They worked well as the pot yielded 5 keepers.
It is not raining today so my temporary co-worker Joey and i will head down to the end of the bay catch some crab bait, set the pot and i want to check out an old alaskan fish trap that you can only see at low tide. Joey is my temp while i await my co-worker Jill, who has been teaching English in Japan and comes out July 2nd, along with my two Australian friends Amelia and Alice.
